THE GOTHIC BELLY DANCE AFFAIR :: neon
Slowly but steadily we are making progress recording performances for the "Gothic Bellydance - Revelations" DVD (World Dance New York release - early fall). A few new pieces were filmed on Sat.: Isis - fire crown dance, Maiiah - performance with two serpents, Elsa Leandros - saiidi (first with spikey medieval flails using Egyptian cane technique, then with zills to the metal mix of "Al Ain Mulayatain" by Jehan, and a duet - Ayshe and Adrienne, "Amazon and Sorceress" (amazon invades the enchanted forest guarded by the bird-sorceress.) The diversity of performances we've recorded so far is truly amazing - the DVD is going to be a showcase of the expansive range of styles and techniques of modern belly dance. Our filming sessions are a non-stop visual feast - the dancers are strikingly gorgeous.
