RHODE ISLAND WORKSHOP :: blanca

Blanca_and_carmine_2

As Neon mentioned earlier, after enjoying an hour of Djinn and Pete List's music on television, Carmine and I hit the road to The Dancing Spirit in Tiverton, Rhode Island.

We had a full day of workshops, 5 hours total, and had a great time. We started the day with a Sensual Bellydance workshop, followed by Rhythms and Drum Solo workshops. Carmine also gave a zill workshop.

At the end of the day Barb and her students performed a routine that became increasingly complex. As they danced, Barbara gave meaning to each movement, it was very sweet with interesting symbolism that, like the dance, became more and more comprehensive.

Next came the show and party. We had the best time! Barb introduced us to her musician friends. The band leader, Charlie, used to live here in New York and played for bellydancers.

Barbara opened the show with a beautiful dance to Balinese music. She truly is a dancing spirit! Throughout the night we enjoyed a great mix of styles from some of the dancers who took our workshop.

After the performances we danced for who knows how many hours! There were no clocks, no one cared, all that mattered was the music, the dance and the people. I overheard Barbara's friend telling her: "Barb, I never had so much fun in my entire life!"

Thank you Barbara and all the wonderful Rhode Islanders for this wonderful experience!

Hello Darlinkas,
The weekend was so magical for soooooo many reasons.
In my humble opinion ,all beginning thru advanced dancers could benefit greatly from your workshop. You offer a wonderful blend of essential Belly Dance information which is very hard to come by in most classes or workshops.
The relationship of dancer to drummer is such a key in this dance form.Your workshop encourages both dancers and drummers to not only seek each other out,but to also develop their relationship to a more comfortable, intimate and fun level with each other.
Blanca, your dancing is so beautiful, graceful and heart felt it is magic to watch whatever you do.In the workshop you bring awareness to respecting what the drummer brings to your dance as well as telling your story dances.
Carmine mixes learning the basic rhythms with "any noise makers"( he calls them) which takes away the fear of using and hearing the rhythms and then he plays examples of the rhythms with cd's Middle Eastern's greatest musical hits - voondebah
Your talents, mixed with the other dancers and then to be able to play with the great Charlie Hallal's band - well - it doesn't get much better than that...........Thankyou both and come back to little Rhodie anytime
Love Barbara www.thedancingspirit.com

se antoja bailar de ver tus fotos, y el comentario de Barbara....
Te sigo la pista...felicitaciones!
